Sencha (煎茶 せんちゃ) is a type of Japanese green tea that is widely consumed and known for its bright green color, refreshing flavor, and grassy aroma. It is one of the most popular and common varieties of green tea in Japan. The word "sencha" translates to "roasted tea" in Japanese, but the tea is not actually roasted. Instead, it undergoes a steaming process to prevent oxidation.
Our Sencha is made from the first flush of tea leaves, which are the young and tender leaves harvested in the early spring. This first harvest, known as "shincha" or "new tea," is highly prized for its fresh and vibrant characteristics.
Features:
- Rich in Antioxidants: Like other green teas, sencha is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins. These compounds are believed to have various health benefits, including potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Regular consumption of green tea is associated with certain positive health effects.
- Stress Reduction:The amino acid L-theanine, found in green tea, is known for its relaxing and stress-reducing effects. Sencha, with its moderate caffeine content and L-theanine, may contribute to a calm and alert mental state.
- Anti-Inflammatory Effects: The polyphenols in green tea, such as catechins, have anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation is linked to various health issues, and reducing inflammation can be beneficial for overall health.
